Privacy Policy
Last updated: May 12, 2026
Your privacy, in simple terms
Vera is designed to feel like someone you can trust. That only works if your privacy is protected.
- Your conversations are private
- We do not sell your personal data
- We do not use your conversations to train AI models without your consent
- You stay in control of what you share
- You can request deletion of your data at any time
This page explains in detail how we handle your information.
1. Who we are
Controller: Proxy Tech Ltd (trading as Vera)
Contact (privacy): stefano@stefanofracchiolla.com
Postal address: 28 Wenlock Road, London, HA89JF, UK
2. Scope
This Privacy Policy applies to:
- Visitors of our website
- People who join our waitlist
- Users of the Vera mobile application and related services
Some sections apply only to specific parts of the Services.
3. Information we collect
3.1 Website and waitlist
- Waitlist data: email address (required) and optional name.
- Technical data: IP address, browser type, timestamps (via hosting logs).
- Analytics: we use PostHog (EU hosting) to understand how the site is used.
- Fonts: Google Fonts may receive standard technical request data from your browser.
3.2 Vera mobile app and backend
- Account identifier: anonymous ID via Supabase Auth (no traditional login required).
- Chat and content you provide: messages, text, images, or audio you share (audio may be transcribed for processing).
- Profile and relationship context: information used to power Vera, including onboarding responses, preferences and language, profiles about people you are dating, scores, insights and patterns, and stored "memory" used to improve relevance (including vector embeddings).
- Session context: language, locale, and timezone sent with requests to personalize responses. Timezone is used for prompting and is not stored as a dedicated profile field; locale may be stored where the product is configured to save it.
- Local device storage: some data may be cached on your device for performance and offline resilience. Removing the app or clearing app data typically deletes that cache.
- Diagnostics: we use Sentry for error monitoring (stack traces, breadcrumbs, and device metadata — no session recordings and no IP address) and PostHog for product analytics. PostHog receives anonymous events keyed to a per-device identifier only: no email, no name, and the IP address is stripped before storage. You can disable analytics from Settings → Legal in the app.
- Subscriptions: when you purchase or restore a subscription, your transaction is processed by Apple or Google and verified via RevenueCat (our subscription infrastructure provider), which receives the platform purchase identifiers and your anonymous Vera user ID.
- Speech recognition (optional): if you use voice-to-text to dictate a message, your audio is processed by your device's speech recognition service — Apple Speech on iOS or Google on Android. Vera does not store the raw audio after transcription.
4. How we use information
We use your information to:
- Provide and operate Vera.
- Deliver AI-powered responses and insights.
- Improve product performance and reliability.
- Communicate with you (waitlist and product-related emails).
- Maintain security and prevent misuse.
- Comply with legal obligations.
AI processing
To generate responses, relevant parts of your content may be securely sent to AI providers such as Anthropic and OpenAI.
We do not use your personal conversations to train AI models unless you explicitly consent.
5. Sensitive content
Some information you share may be personal or sensitive, including relationship experiences, emotional reflections, and private conversations.
We process this information only to provide the Vera experience and do not use it for unrelated purposes.
6. Legal bases (EEA, UK, and similar regions)
Where applicable, we rely on:
- Contract: to provide the Services.
- Legitimate interests: improving, securing, and operating Vera, where not overridden by your rights.
- Consent: where required (e.g. certain marketing communications).
- Legal obligations: where applicable.
7. Subprocessors and service providers
We work with trusted providers to operate Vera. They process data on our instructions only. Examples include:
- Loops — waitlist and email communications.
- PostHog — anonymous product analytics (EU hosting), with IP collection disabled.
- RevenueCat — subscription management and receipt validation for in-app purchases.
- Vercel — hosting for the marketing website and serverless endpoints.
- Supabase — authentication, database, and serverless functions.
- Anthropic — AI models used to generate Vera's responses.
- OpenAI — embeddings for semantic search over stored memory content, and content moderation on inputs and outputs.
- Apple / Google — on-device or cloud speech recognition when you use voice-to-text.
- Google Fonts — delivery of web fonts on the marketing site.
- Sentry — error monitoring and diagnostics (no session recordings, no IP).
Provider locations and transfer mechanisms (such as standard contractual clauses) may apply depending on where you live. Contact us if you need more detail for your region.
8. International transfers
Your data may be processed in countries such as the United States and other countries where we or our providers operate. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses.
9. Data retention
We keep your data only as long as necessary to provide the Services, comply with legal obligations, and resolve disputes.
In general, data is retained while your account is active. You can request deletion at any time.
10. Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your personal information, and to restrict or object to certain processing, or withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.
To exercise these rights, contact us at the privacy email above. You may also lodge a complaint with a data protection authority in your country.
In the app: inside Vera, open Settings → Legal to export your data (delivered as a downloadable JSON file) or opt out of anonymous analytics. To delete your account, open Settings → Danger zone → Delete account; this removes your profile, conversations, insights, and memory immediately.
From the web: if you do not have the app installed, you can also request deletion via our dedicated page: Delete your account. That page explains what is removed and how to submit your request.
11. Human access to your data
We do not routinely review your conversations manually. Access to data is limited to what is necessary for system operation, support requests, and legal or security requirements.
12. Information about other people
Vera may involve reflecting on interactions with others. You should only share content you have the right to share, and use Vera for personal reflection. You should not use Vera to monitor, track, or analyze others in ways that could harm their privacy or rights.
13. Children
Vera is not intended for anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe we have collected information from a child, please contact us and we will take appropriate steps.
14. Security
We implement appropriate security measures including encryption in transit, access controls, and system monitoring. No system is completely secure, but we continuously work to protect your data.
15. What Vera is not
Vera provides insights based on communication and behavior patterns. It is not a medical service, a psychological diagnosis tool, or a replacement for professional advice of any kind.
16. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version on this page and revise the "Last updated" date. If changes are significant, we will notify you as required by law.
